Jai Mills has worked in the mental health and social service systems for over 40 years.

Jai uses a number of therapeutic approaches that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Recovery Model, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative and Brief Therapy. Jai always works from an empowerment, strength-based approach that is anti-oppressive and inclusive. She collaborates with her clients to determine the approach that best suits them and their needs.

Jai has a particular interest in working with people who have a mental health diagnosis. While she is not Indigenous herself, welcomes the opportunity to work with Indigenous Peoples.

Jai has worked in a variety of settings in the mental health field that include hospitals and community agencies. She has led three mental health agencies and was a member of the first Council of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

She has consulted on projects with the Ministry of Health and was invited to join SAMHSA in the United States as an advisor to the development of their National Suicide Intervention Strategy.
