Our History

Cathy Shurie, Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist, MSW, RSSW, RSW founded Clinical Consultation & Counselling. She has worked with people for over 40 years.

Her career started with helping children, adolescents, and their families in various settings. Ms. Shurie has worked in public schools, psychiatric hospitals, children’s mental health in the community, and live-in and day treatment centres.

Ms. Shurie advanced to program management positions to continue to help children and their families. In her role as a Clinical Director, she provided supervision to therapists and program leadership. Throughout her role as a manager, she continued to provide direct therapy.

Ms. Shurie became an associate at a private practice and intensively provided individual, couple and family therapy to adults, adolescents, and children. During this time, she engaged in clinical consultation with clinicians at a youth transition home. Ms. Shurie also conducted court-ordered custody and access assessments based on the best interest and the views and preferences of children involved in high-conflict parental separation and divorce. The role also involved working with parents to negotiate a settlement plan based on the assessment recommendations.

She established Clinical Consultation & Counselling (CC&C) in 2016. A few years later, client requests became so high that she began to grow the practice by hiring exceptional Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Social Workers. These individual therapists are caring and committed to providing specialized therapy to the people they serve. CC&C therapists possess skills regarding a variety of client concerns.

Ms. Shurie continues to provide therapy at CC&C to a small number of clients and oversees the practice. In addition, she provides clinical supervision to therapists in the community.
